OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - The Punjab government on Monday challenged, in the Lahore High Court, the bail earlier granted to two accused by an Anti-Terrorist Court for launching an attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in February 2009. The ATC had on June 7, 2011 granted the bail to Mohsin and Ashfaq. The fresh appeal, filed by the Prosecution Department of the Punjab on the instructions of the Punjab government, the bail of accused has been challenged, has termed the bail a show of leniency towards the terrorists, who damaged the image of the country. The appellant contended terrorists cannot be given any relief under the law.
