49 criminals’ gangs smashed in June

LAHORE - Lahore police Friday said that they smashed 49 gangs of criminals by arresting their 130 members during the month of June. Police also traced 106 cases of crimes against the gangsters and also recovered looted valuables worth 4.8 millions rupees from their possession.
According to a police spokesperson, Lahore police also arrested 1,802 proclaimed offenders and court absconders during the last month.
DIG Operations Muhammad Waqas Nazir ordered the police to step up crackdown against the hardened criminals, gangsters involved in street crimes, and the elements involved in drug peddling.
On the orders of the Lahore Operations police chief, all the divisional SPs constituted special police teams to hunt down the criminals. During the month of June 2014, the police arrested 130 criminals who were wanted to the police in several cases of heinous crimes.
Police also arrested 870 proclaimed offenders, 932 court-absconders of A and B categories. Similarly, the police registered 358 cases against 362 persons for having illicit weapon and police also recovered 9-Kalashankoves, 9-rifles, 26-guns, 302-revolvers and pistols, 6 daggers, and 2160 bullets from their possession.
While taking action against drug dealers, police registered 547 cases and arrested 554 culprits. The police also recovered 18-kg heroine, 120-kg Chars, 445grm Opium and 2553 bottles of liquor from their possession. Moreover, 89 cases were registered against gamblers and 428 accused were arrested.
