LAHORE - Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has stressed the protective arrangements for coping with the possible flood and monsoon should be better than the previous year.
“I will personally monitor all pre-floods protective arrangements,” he told the Cabinet Committee on Flood during a meeting on Saturday.
Warning of intolerance against any delay in implementation of decision made in this regard, Shahbaz Sharif said all concerned federal and provincial departments should complete all precautionary arrangements for coping with possible flood.
The Cabinet Committee on Flood should monitor protective arrangements by visiting various places, he urged. He further directed the committee that the weather situation and flow of water in the rivers should be monitored 24 hours and administration should remain alert in view of the situation. “There should be complete preparation for meeting any emergent situation,” he held.
Besides protective arrangements, the committee should also review the stock of medicines and the working condition of necessary equipments, said the chief minister. He further directed the officials concerned to immediately remove encroachments alongside rainy nullahs and river beds. The district administration, with the cooperation of police, should take indiscriminate action against the violators, he suggested.
