Punjab Youth Festival in full swing

LAHORE- Punjab Youth Festival 2014 Inter Divisional level is in full swing at various venues of the city.

Today, the competitions of women hockey, volleyball, basketball, football, touch ball and athletics were held. In PYF education sector college women hockey competitions, Lahore outclassed Multan 2-0 to lift the title. Shafaq smashed two goals to guide her team to victory. In university women hockey final, Punjab University thrashed University of Sargodha 4-0 to clinch the trophy. For PU, Asma Ashraf hammered two goals while Bushra and Munazza scored one goal each.

In volleyball college events of the PYF, Faisalabad overwhelmed Lahore 2-0. Amna Zafar was declared the best player of the tournament. In volleyball university events, Lahore edged out Bahawalpur to grab the title. Rubina Kausar was named best player of the tournament.

Kinnaird College and Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) won the PYF Inter-Divisional basketball college and university level titles. MPA Khawaja Imran Nazir distributed prizes among the winners.

In the final of college girls’ basketball, hosts Kinnaird College, representing Lahore, thrashed Sargodha by 74-5 and defended their title with a massive victory. Mehru Khan remained the prominent contributor for the winning team with 32 points. LCWU, which represented Lahore in university girls’ basketball, toppled Sargodha by 18-10 in the title clash.

The general public football event of the PYF was won by Faisalabad who defeated Lahore 4-3. The final of university football event was won by Lahore, beating Sargodha 6-5 in a thriller.
