Govt urged to accept Opposition’s ToRs

LAHORE - Jamaat-e-Islami chief Senator Sirajul Haq has condemned the government rejection of opposition’s ToRs while Jamiat-e-Ulam-e-Pakistan head Pir Ijaz Hashmi asked government to accept them.

The government rejection of ToR’s proposed by the joint opposition proved that the rulers avoid accountability and bent to make enquiry commission a disputed issue, said Siraj in a statement issued from JI head-office Mansora on Wednesday.

He said the rulers must realize that such tricks won’t succeed any more, adding there was strong resentment among the masses on the corruption issue. He said the people wanted that corruption was uprooted once for all and the plunderers of public money were executed in public.

“We want across the board accountability and the process must start with the Prime Minister because he is holding the highest public office in the country. I believe no one would be able to escape the scepter of accountability this time,” he said.

Sirajul Haq said those who were trying to give the impression that the opposition was divided were wrong and wanted to plunge the masses into the darkness of despair.

JUP chief Pir Ijaz Hashmi welcomed the opposition agreement on terms of reference for investigation corruption and Panama leaks matter and asked the government to accept them. He said opposition parties kept pressure on prime minister to expose “his family’s corruption” but the democratic should not be derailed.

Sunni Ittehad Council head Sahibzada Hamid Raza also demanded of the government to accept opposition’s ToRs for probing corruption. In a statement, he said the corrupt elite ruling over masses for decades and people should now stand against them.
