LAHORE - The Punjab Bar Council (PBC) Thursday named Rai Bashir, chairman Khatam-e-Nabuwwat Lawyers Forum, as member of the judicial commission for the appointment of judges for the superior judiciary. This was decided in a meeting held at PBC with Vice Chairman PBC in the chair. Bashir, a candidate of Friends Alliance, bagged 58 votes out of 75, whereas members of Hamid Khan Group boycotted the polling. Speaking on the occasion, Rai Bashir thanked the house for reposing confidence in him and vowed that he would do his level best to fulfill the responsibility as member judicial commission. Expressing his determination, he said as member of the commission, he would play his role to ensure selection of competent judges on merit so that the judiciary could live up to the expectations of the people.
