CM takes notice of fake case against abducted girls

LAHORE – Taking note of the Gulberg Police’ misbehaviour with females, the Punjab Chief Minister on Thursday ordered CCPO Lahore to probe into the matter and report to him within a couple of days, police sources said.
Two girls namely Rabia and Afshaan, daughters of Muhammad Ashfaq, were allegedly kidnapped from the Gulberg police area, a few days back. Police had registered the case against unknown abductors at the said police station, where the family disclosed that kidnappers had demanded ransom from them.
Police sources said that the girls were recovered from a local hotel in objectionable condition from Shadman Police precincts on the very day and were handed over to the police concerned. The family, however, alleged that the police had recovered the girls from somewhere else but police were incriminating them in a fake case.
The family members demonstrated against the Gulberg and Shadman Police and chanted slogans against them. They said that DIG Major Mubashir had completed the inquiry and established that the girls were abducted from a roadside in Gulberg police area, but the police had intentionally incriminated them.
The Chief Minister has ordered to take action against the police officers concerned, on which one police constable has been suspended. Further investigations are underway.
