LAHORE - FIA has arrested a human smuggler whose name is included in Red Book 2009 and he is allegedly involved in more than 18 cases of human trafficking, said spokesman of the FIA on Monday. He said that through secret information FIA came to know that Muhammad Sharif Shahani s/o Haji Qaisar aged 45, r/o Basti Chah Hazary Wala Kot Mubaorak Janubi Tehsil & District Dera Ghazi Khan, was coming to his native town DG Khan from Muscat, Oman or Mand Bullo Balochishtan. For the surveillance and arrest a team was constituted and after a weeks efforts, on July 02, 2010 the Team was finally able to locate the Proclaimed Offender. DPO DG Khan also helped FIA team to arrest the accused. The joint team succeeded to arrest the most wanted human trafficker. His name appears at Sr Nos 48 & 70 of the FIA Red Book 2009 of human traffickers and smugglers. He is involved in illegally sending people to Gulf countries including Muscat, Oman and to Europe through Iran. He was based in Gawadar, operated secretly and his identification and locating the whereabouts remained a challenge. The PO is wanted in 18 cases registered u/s 3 & 4 of the Prevention and Control of Human Trafficking Ordinance 2002 read with 17/18/22 Emigration Ordinance, 1979 at FIA PS Multan (Detail of FIRs: 22/06, 30/06, 419/06, 26/09, 27/09, 29/09, 31/09, 32/09, 46/09, 58/09, 66/09, 67/09, 76/09, 10/10,11/10, 12/10,28/10 & 32/10). The record shows that he is wanted by FIA Sindh in at least 13 registered cases. He is also wanted by FIA Anti Human Trafficking Circles Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and other Zones, the details of which are being obtained. It was learnt that he was also wanted by DG Khan Police which first arrested him in some cases. He is the man who has been sending people at large scale to Muscat / Oman through illegal routes. He is reportedly operating his own launches. In view of the devotion, dedication and wisely achieved target, Azam Joiya Director FIA Punjab Zone has sent his recommendations to the Director General FIA for grant of cash reward with certificates to the Teams and appreciation letters to Kashif Mushtaq DPO DG Khan and Rana Irfan Hussain Addl Director FIA Multan for timely cooperation, coordination, supervision and effective command.
