Argentinians artwork on display

LAHORE A photographic exhibition, titled Pakistans Golden Thrones-Argentine Journey by Tommy Hienrich, an Argentine mountaineer and Photographer for the National Geographic Magazine, opened at Zahoor-ul-Akhlaq Gallery, National College of Arts on Sunday. The Ambassador of Argentina in Pakistan Rodolfo J Martin-Saravia inaugurated the exhibition which was visited by a large number of art lovers, and artists including Saeed Akhtar, former education minister of Punjab Mian Imran Masood and US Consulate General Carmela Conroy. On the occasion, 31 photographs, having beautiful sights of Pakistan like Sakardu, Karakoram Highway and Kalash valley were displayed. The photographer beautifully captures the different culture through his camera. The visitors appreciated the artist for his hard work and expertise. The exhibition will continue till June 12. Earlier, Rodolfo J Martin-Saravia addressed a ceremony. He said that the event accompanies the celebrations of the 60th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Argentina and Pakistan. He said though Pakistan and Argentina are friends for 60 years but they become by the exchange of art and culture. Ambassador said he had intensively promoted and organized cultural events with the purpose of sharing the argentine art with the people of Pakistan. The exhibition portrays the beauty and grandeur of the northern areas of Pakistan, the warmth and ruggedness of their people, he added. On the occasion, participial NCA Fauzia Qureshi presented a briefed introduction of the college. And, Tommy, the photographer shared his experiences during his journey to the hilly areas of Pakistan. He said Pakistan had vibrant culture and beauties. He further said his photographic work had been published by the National Geographic Magazine in 2007 which was appreciated by the world community. Tommy Heinrich is professional photographer who works for National Geographic magazine, came to Pakistan in 1997 for the first time, fell in love with the country and since then has been capturing its images with his camera. Those images have also been put together and converted into an exceptional book During the inauguration ceremony a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Pakistans first biotech pharmaceutical company BF Biosciences Limited, which sponsored the book and exhibition and the National College of Arts. It MoU includes the commitment by BF to establish an Endowment Fund to support merit-based scholarships every year for deserving students at NCA, while the College will incorporate in its curriculum an annual project involving NCA faculty and students to transform a public sector Hospital Ward into a positive and supporting environment for patients and their families, through the use of art. The MoU was signed by Fauzia Qureshi, Principal NCA and Osman Khalid Waheed, CEO of BF Biosciences, in the presence of the Ambassador of Argentina, HE Rodolfo J Martin-Saravia.
