39 sent on judicial remand

LAHORE - An anti-terrorism court Wednesday handed over four suspects to police on physical remand and sent 39 others to jail on a judicial remand for their alleged involvement in killing of a Christian couple and later throwing their dead bodies in coal-furnace of a brick kiln in District Kasur.
Police produced all the suspects in anti-terrorism court under strict security arrangements. The investigation officer requested the court to grant physical remand of four suspects and send the remaining suspects to jail on judicial remand.
On Nov 4, an enraged Muslim mob killed a Christian couple and later set their bodies on fire for their alleged involvement in desecrating a copy of the Holy Qurn in Kot Radha Kishan. The mob attacked the couple’s house and lynched Shahzad and his wife Shama. Initial investigation revealed that a local Imam (prayer leader) provoked the villagers against the couple.
