PPP demands law minister's resignation

LAHORE-Levelling allegations of corruption and patronage of terrorists against Punjab Law Minister, Rana Sana Ullah Khan, PPPs Punjab organisation on Sunday impressed upon Punjab chief minister to seek resignation from his cabinet minister. Addressing a news conference at Lahore Press Club, PPPs Punjab Secretary Information, Dr. Fakhruddin Chaudhry said that law minister was a corrupt person and had links with banned terrorist organisations. He was accompanied by partys Deputy Secretary Information, Iqbal Sialvi and other party office bearers. Taking strong exception to Rana Sanas criticism of Punjab governor, the PPP leader said law minister was patronising terrorists and was also involved in corruption of millions of rupees. Dr. Fakhar said that Rana Sana Ullah was a black mark on the face of Punjab government, and hence had no right to hold the important portfolio of law. He demanded of the Chief Justice, Lahore High Court to order judicial inquiry to probe law ministers corruption in development schemes amounting to Rs 60.5 million. Fakhruddin said that Sunni Ittehad Council and Shia community had also expressed serious reservations about his conduct, and it was time that chief minister should sack the minister. Replying to a question, he said that Punjab governor had already fulfilled his constitutional responsibility by writing a letter to the Punjab CM against the law minister with proofs of his involvement in illegal activities. Dr. Fakhar lauded Governor Taseer, saying he was a leading tax payer in Pakistan, and We should be proud of having such a person as governor of the province. He said that unlike Salmaan Taseer, who had very sound credentials, Rana Sana Ullah was ring leader of drug and land mafia. He also criticised the minister for his visit to Norway when country was bearing the brunt of mighty floods. Replying to a question, he said that he had no hope of getting justice from Lahore High Court. The LHC Chief Justice is more a PML-N worker than a Chief Justice, he alleged. Dr. Fakhar also criticised Punjab government for allegedly having soft corner for the terrorists. The government, he said, should deal with the terrorists with iron hand. To another question, he said it was provincial subject to apprehend the terrorists.
