KBD only solution to power crisis

LAHORE - Former Finance Advisor Dr Salman Shah has said that the current PPP leadership should review its stance over building the Kalabagh dam as PPP founding chairman Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was the supporter of the project.
He expressed these views while addressing a seminar titled ‘Energy Crisis and Responsibilities of the Provinces’ organized by PML-Q Punjab Secretary Information Akram Chaudhary at Muslim League House on Friday. Terming Kalabagh Dam vital for ending the energy crisis, he urged the PPP and ANP to review their stand over the construction which could help generate 4,000 megawatt electricity costing only Rs1.50 per unit.
Salman while stressing the need of less dependence on the costly thermal electricity said that there was dire need of taking up the hydel power projects including the Kalabagh Dam. He said that the formula of PML-Q Chief Shujaat Hussain could curtail the load shedding to 25 percent, eliminating 75 percent of the load management.
Salmaan said that ministry of inter-provincial coordination should be made more effective to build consensus among the provinces on controversial hydel projects, adding that the same ministry was the second powerful position in India after its prime minister.
Eminent businessmen Suhail Lashari and Ibrahim Mughal also spoke on the occasion, while PML-Q members Amna Ulfat, Samina Khawar Hayat, Samaya Amjad and Syed Bilal Sherazi attended the function.
