CIA SP Virk among 3 top cops transferred

LAHORE – Inspector General of Punjab Police Javed Iqbal has transferred and posted three police officers including SP CIA Omer Virk, a blue-eyed officer of the department.
According to a notification issued on Monday, the IGP transferred Umer Virk, Addl SP CIA and posted as SP investigation, Layyah. Similarly, Muhammad Maroof Masood Wahla, Deputy Director, Elite Police Force, Punjab was also transferred and posted as Addl SP Operations, Model Town, Lahore, while Mr Awais Ahmad Malik, Addl SP Operations, Model Town was closed to Police Headquarters, Punjab.
Sources told this scribe, Omer Virk was considered the most reliable cop of several senior police officers and civil bureaucrats, due to which he not only enjoyed the lucrative post of SP CIA but also ruled the City for not less than five years. They said the IG Punjab learned about several negative astonishing facts about Omer Virk on which he finally transferred him to Layyah District.
Official circles, however, claimed Omer Virk may again be appointed on the same post of SP CIA Lahore or on any other lucrative post in the provincial capital in upcoming days. They said according to his style, Omer Virk always created problematic situation for his opponent police officers like DSP Gulshan-e-Ravi Imtiaz Bhali and DSP Ahmed Saleem Butt and etc. According to them, Mr Imtiaz Bhali is more capable as compared to Omer Virk but the latter always placed hurdles in the way of Mr Bhali. “Now, the panorama is quite clear and Mr Bhali and his like-minded police officers may take the charge of Crime Investigation Agency,” they added.
