LHC imposes Rs35,000 fine on SHO

LAHORE – The Lahore High Court on Friday imposed a fine of Rs35, 000 on an Inspector for not registering a case obeying the Sessions Court orders.
The Judge ordered the SHO Iqbal Town Police Station Qamar Abbas to pay the fine to the petitioner, Luqman Sardar, who bore expenses of petitions and had been wandering for registration of the FIR.
Petitioner stated an Additional District and Sessions Judge had ordered the SHO to register FIR on his complaint. But, the SHO did not register the FIR despite repeated requests, Sardar added.
He submitted before the LHC that the SHO was not paying heed on his applications despite the court orders. The SHO was deliberately violating the court orders as he was favouring the accused, Sardar further contended. He requested the court to issue directions to the SHO to register the FIR.
After recording arguments, Justice Shahzad Ahmad imposed fine of Rs35, 000 on the SHO, and directed the Lahore Capital City Police Officer to initiate departmental inquiry against the SHO and submit inquiry report within 10 days.
