Operator feared dead in crane crash

LAHORE  - A rescue operation was underway till Monday night to recover a crane operator, who disappeared in the drain when the heavy machine turned turtle all of a sudden during desilting in the Samanabad area.
Rescue workers said that the depth of the drain was estimated at 12 to 15-feet and the speedy flow of waste water in the drain further complicated the situation. The crane operator, identified as Sajjad, is feared dead. The authorities have now blocked the flow of water from two sides and a search operation is underway to recover the body of the crane operator, a spokesman for the Rescue-1122 said on Monday night.
Vendor murdered in main bazaar
Motorcyclists shot dead a 30-year-old vendor in the main bazaar in Raiwind City area and fled away, police said on Monday.
Resident of Khyber-PK, Abdul Mannan Khan was selling goods in the main bazaar when two motorcyclists appeared there. They opened straight fire on the vendor and escaped after ensuring his on-the-spot death. The police reached the spot and removed the body to the morgue for autopsy. The investigators were yet to establish the motives behind the murder but said they were investigating the killing keeping in view various aspects of the happening including robbery-cum-murder. Further investigations were underway.
FOUND DEAD
A 50-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances from the one of the rooms of a hotel located in Ghalib Market area. Police identified the deceased as Professor Aftab. The body was removed to the morgue for autopsy. The police are investigating.
