LAHORE (PR) - Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Amin Wains has claimed that the city police arrested 18 terrorists and target killers during 2014 and foiled their nefarious designs.
According to a press release issued on Tuesday, Lahore police launched a crackdown against criminals during 2014 and nabbed 47845 proclaimed offenders, dacoits, robbers, drug peddlers, gamblers and others. The police also recovered looted valuables worth Rs7,400 million from their possession, besides a huge cache of illegal weapons.
“25 important personalities, including judges, lawyers, doctors, senior journalists, politicians and senior officers were at the hit list of these terrorists,” the CCPO revealed.
The CIA police, during last year, apprehended five members of Hassan alias Bhala gang who had killed more than 16 citizens as well as injured 29 others for putting up resistance in various cities of the province including Lahore. It was the biggest dacoit gang busted in the history of Lahore police with regard to the recovery. Similarly, narcotics worth millions of rupees and a massive amount of illegal weapons were recovered from drug peddlers, gamblers and other criminals.
According to details, Lahore police nabbed 3219 members of 1075 gangs of dacoits, robbers and thieves and recovered looted items worth Rs 744m including more than Rs671m in cash and prize bonds, 3,000 mobile phones, 200 computers and laptops, 7kg gold, 71kg silver, foreign currency worth 4m rupees besides electronics items and other valuables from the criminals. Similarly, the Lahore police in its drive against proclaimed offenders arrested 25523 proclaimed offenders and 14765 court absconders involved in various incidents of murder, robbery, attempted murder, kidnapping for ransom and other cases of heinous nature and brought them to justice.
Lahore police also registered 7317 cases against drug peddlers and recovered 38kg heroin, 1669kg 507 gram Charas, 26kg opium, 246 bottles of liquor and many other drugs. During raids on various gambling dens, 7196 gamblers were arrested and more than Rs20m stake money as well as watches, mobile phones and gold ornaments were recovered from their possession.
