LAHORE - Punjab Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal has issued directives to take effective steps for monitoring the quality, supply and prices of eatable items during the month of Ramazan.
He said this while presiding over a meeting on Ramazan package at Civil Secretariat Saturday. The Chief Secretary said that Punjab government announced Ramazan package for providing relief to the people during holy month under which flour, sugar, pulses, ghee, vegetables and fruits will be available at concessionary rates.
He directed the concerned authorities to ensure supply of fruits, vegetables and other items during Ramazan that there should be no shortage of any item.
He said that all concerned departments should make every effort for providing fruits of Ramazan package to the people. Gondal warned that strict action will be taken against hoarders and profiteers.
Industry Secretary Nasim Sadiq giving briefing to the meeting told that 316 Ramzan bazaars will be set throughout the province. He said that Agriculture Department will establish fair price shops in Ramazan bazaars whereas green channels will also be opened so that farmers could sell their items.
He told that 1344 Price Control Magistrates will be deputed for monitoring prices. Nasim Sadiq said that 2000 Madni Dastarkhawan will also be set up during Ramazan-ul-Mubarak in the province and facility of Iftaar will also be available there. Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin, Minister for Industry Ch. Shafiq, former MPA Haji Nawaz, Addl. Chief Secretary, Commissioner Lahore Division, DCO Lahore and other senior officers attended the meeting.
