No room for confrontation in politics: ShaHbaz

LAHORE - Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that democracy demands resolution of issues through dialogue and not through the politics of agitation and chaos.
While talking to Federal Minister for Trade Khurram Dastagir, who called on him on Thursday, the chief minister said it is not the time for revolutions or long marches, but to express solidarity with the officers and jawans of Pak Army, who are fighting terrorism. He asserted the nation should help the displaced persons of North Waziristan. He averred that in a democratic setup, problems are solved through negotiations, adding the doors of the government are open for dialogue.
The chief minister said there is no room for negative activities and confrontation in politics. He said the government has been given the mandate for five years and no conspiracy against the democratic system will succeed.
Shahbaz Sharif was sure the elements creating hurdles in the process of national development will be rejected by the masses.
He said ball tempering of those who are raising hue and cry of the so-called rigging will not work. Shahbaz Sharif said politics is the name of selfless service to the masses and the PML-N government has taken solid measures for the welfare and betterment of the people while several welfare programmes are being completed expeditiously. However, he said, the Tahreek-e-Insaf leadership wants to cover up the failure and poor performance of its government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the garb of protest. On one hand, the PTI leadership is raising slogans of elimination of corruption, but on the other hand, it wants to launch a movement with the help of those who set world records of corruption during the era of dictatorship. He alleged that was the time when a robbery of Rs 70 billion was committed at the Punjab Bank and the bank loans worth billions of rupees were got written off. He added the international institutions had also declared Punjab the most corrupt province at that time.
The chief minister said Imran Khan who had termed these political elements the biggest thieves and dacoits in the Pakistani politics is now talking of starting a movement with their support. He held the people know well who is serving them selflessly and who is indulging in negative politics. Those who want to achieve their negative designs by promoting anarchy and chaos will never succeed in their efforts, he concluded.
