Technical fault causes blackouts

LAHORE The technical fault in Lahore Electric Supply Companys (Lesco) six grid stations caused hours of blackouts in various areas of the City on Friday night. There was no electricity in the areas of Lahore Airport, Johar Town, Township, Wapda Town, Green Town, Faisal Town and the adjacent areas till the filing of the report. An official of the Lesco said that intense fog and the weather condition were causing technical problems in the grid stations. He said the Lescos engineers were busy removing the faults and electricity will be resumed as early as possible. Meanwhile, Pepco stated 2,880MW shortfall was reported in the system on Friday. The hydel generation was stated 1,952MW with thermal power share of 1,383MW. IPPs produced 6,340MW for national grid. The total generation remained 9,737MW contrary to the demand of 12,617MW across the country.
