LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that billions of rupees have been spent for the development and prosperity of the backward areas, uplift of South Punjab and removing the development disparity in the province during the last six years.
Presiding over a high level meeting here on Saturday, Shahbaz Sharif said the process of provision of huge resources for development of these areas will continue in future.
The chief minister said that improvement of living standard of the people of South Punjab and bringing them into national mainstream is top priority of the government.
He said a state-of-the-art hospital completed with the cooperation of Turkey in Muzaffargarh will be inaugurated during current month and modern treatment facilities will be available to the people in this hospital free of cost.
The meeting reviewed in detail various development and public welfare-oriented projects of South Punjab. MNA Awais Leghari, provincial Minister for Agriculture Dr Farrukh Javed and other senior officials attended the meeting.
Shahbaz disclosed that resources of billions of rupees are being allocated in next financial year’s budget for provision of education, health and other basic facilities to the masses. He said special attention is being paid for provision of best treatment facilities to the people of far-flung areas and South Punjab. He said Tayyip Erdogan Hospital constructed at Muzaffargarh with the cooperation of Turkey will become operational this month where free treatment will be available to the patients and its all record will be computerized.
The chief minister, giving approval for the provision of 10 mobile health units for districts of South Punjab, said best and modern treatment and diagnostic facilities will be available to the people of South Punjab at their doorstep through these mobile health units. Endorsing establishment of Daanish School at Fort Manro, he said Punjab government has set up all Daanish Schools in backward and far-flung areas of Punjab which are providing quality education free of cost to the poorest children of these areas.
MNA Awais Leghari said the chief minister has won the hearts of the people of South Punjab by announcing package of billions of rupees for the area. He said a new era of prosperity will usher in after completion of development projects announced by the chief minister.
