Clampdown on underage drivers in Lahore

LAHORE  - Lahore Traffic police would launch clampdown on the underage drivers from Thursday (today) to stop the unlawful practice, a police spokesman said Wednesday.
Earlier, the traffic police had launched an awareness campaign in Lahore to discourage underage driving after police observed that underage drivers were vulnerable to road accidents.
Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Sohail Chaudhry presided over a meeting at the traffic headquarters on Wednesday and directed the police to set up special pickets across the provincial metropolis to check the underage drivers.
The police are also directed to take stringent action against the underage drivers while senior officers are asked to supervise the campaign. An official said that police are strictly directed to impound the vehicles besides taking legal action against the juvenile drivers.
