LAHORE - An election tribunal on Saturday sought final arguments in alleged poll rigging in NA-118 - the constituency from where PML-N’s Riaz Malik was elected as member of the National Assembly.
During the court proceedings, a deputy director of Nadra appeared before the tribunal and recorded his statement about a forensic report about the election record of NA-118.
The officer stated that national identity card numbers of over 12000 voters could not be verified by the authority. 65793 used counterfoils were also not verified during the examination, he added.
The tribunal made the officer’s statement part of the case record with directions to the lawyers of both sides to come up with final arguments on Aug 15. The runner-up candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Hamid Zaman had challenged the election results and alleged massive rigging on part of the PML-N candidate.
