our STAFF REPORTER LAHORE The Lahore High Court on Thursday suspended three year jail term of Seema Munawar, daughter of late LHC Justice Munawer Elahi, and ordered her release. The petitioner Seema also former additional advocate general Punjab filed the petition against her conviction and prayed the court to suspend her sentence in light of the judgments of Supreme Court which allows suspension of conviction in sentence of few years. After arguments, Justice Manzoor Ahmed Malik suspended her jail term and directed to release her against furnishing the surety bonds of Rs5 lakh. An accountability court had awarded a three-year jail term to Seema along with fine of Rs3.9 million. NAB, Punjab, had accused Seema of withdrawing pension of her father by showing her status unmarried while she was a divorcee. She had withdrawn an amount of Rs.3.9 million as pension of her father. TCP: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Sheik Azmat Saeed on Thursday issued notices to Trading Corporation of Pakistan and federal government over a petition requesting to stop TCP from purchasing sugar from open marker at the rate of Rs63 to 65 whereas the commodity is being sold at Rs53 per kg in the market. The Petitioner Azhar Siddue Advocate submitted that it was a business arm of federal government under ministry of commerce and acted only on direction of ECC (economic coordination committee) of cabinet or the government for procuring any stocks to be deliver to Utility Stores Corporation, CSDs, etc., at a subsidize price.
