LAHORE Batters Farooq, Arif and Imtiaz guided Army to a crushing defeat against Police in the second match of the second MCB National Inter-departmental Baseball Championship. Army won the match with a substantial margin 18-8 at the Railways Stadium, Ghari Shahu, here on Friday. Army batters made five scores in the first two innings while their pitcher and fielders didnt allow Police to make any score. Police batters, however, made three scores in the third innings whereas Army failed to make any score. Army batters made one score in the fourth and two in their fifth innings. Police batters, however, failed to score amid good pitching and fielding of Army players. Police added two more scores to their total in the sixth innings while Army batters could not make any score. Armys batters demonstrated excellent hitting in the seventh innings and plundered six scores while their pitchers and fielders did not allow Police batters to make any score. Armys batters added two more scores in their eighth innings taking their total to 18 while Police made three run. According to the rules the match could not proceed to the ninth innings as Army had taken a lead of 10 scores. From Army Farooq made four scores with one home run. Imtiaz made four scores with one home run. Arif made four scores. Riaz made two scores with two home run. Kashif made two scores. Iftikhar and Sarfraz made one score each. From Police Sumair Zawar and Waqas made two scores each, Yasir and Umair Bhatti made one home run each, Hafiz Musaddaq and Imdad Hussain made one score each. Army will face Wapda in the third match on Saturday (January 9).
