LAHORE - A judicial magistrate at Cantonment Courts yesterday sent eight men to jail on judicial remand for allegedly involved in gang-rape of a teenaged student.
Race Course police produced suspects before the judicial magistrate. The Investigating Officer told the court that the investigation of the suspects had been completed and, therefore, their further custody was not required.
The police also submitted interim challan of the case. On it, the magistrate sent the suspects on judicial remand and directed the police to complete challan and submit it on the next hearing.
The suspects include Adnan Sanaullah and his accomplices Abdul Majid, Muhammad Umar, Ameer Ahmad, Haris, Bilawal, Imran Shahid and Qamar Zaman. Sanaulla, the prime suspect, is said to be an office-bearer of PML-N Youth Wing.
On Dec 26, the suspects allegedly abducted 15 years girl from Multan road and took her to a guest house at The Mall where they subjected her to gang-rape. The family of the victim came to know about the incident that she was lying unconscious outside a room.
On previous hearings, the victim girl could not appear before the judge to record her statement in the incident.
