Wasa ordered to install 60 generators

LAHORE – The Punjab government has ordered Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) authorities to install as many as 60 new generators at tube-wells to ensure regular supply of potable water to Lahorites.
“Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also gave approval for the allocation of funds to purchase new generators,” said Wasa Managing Director Mian Muhammad Abdullah in a press statement issued on Sunday.
Abdullah further said after the installation of 60 new generators, the total number of generators installed on water supply tube-wells would reach 198, helping Wasa to improve the supply of potable water in the City.
The Wasa managing director added that to stop wastage and misuse of clean water, the agency issued notices to owners of 414 service stations functioning in its precincts, giving them directions to close their water connections temporarily within 24 hours.
“In case of any violation, Wasa authorities would initiate legal action against them, imposing heavy fines and awarding punishment of imprisonment as well,” he informed.
