Anarkali blast: Investigators still clueless

LAHORE  - The Crime Investigation Agency is still clueless about the culprits involved in Old Anarkali blast a couple of days back which killed five people and injured over 50, sources in Crime Investigation Agency said on Monday.
They said Crime Investigation Agency was busy in collecting evidence and recording statements of the injured to reach any conclusion. The Punjab government has announced compensation for all the victims and their family members.
It merits mentioning here that blast happened a month after Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz party came into power. The Punjab capital had so far been relatively calm and safe from the wave of bombings that has terrorised the three other provincial headquarters over the past four years.
Provincial police chief has warned his force that there could be more such more incidents in next three days.
Preliminary police inquiries suggested that a time device had been placed under chairs near Bokhara Restaurant. A Crime Investigation Agency officer said at the time of blast Food Street was almost packed to its capacity.
Capital City Police Officer Chaudhry Shafique Ahmad told media that an explosive device weighing about 500 grams hidden in a shopper bag was apparently used in the blast.
Capital City Police Officer Ahmed said that anti-state elements were involved in such incidents and that they wanted to create fear and anarchy in the capital.
Though senior police officers are claiming that accused would be dealt with iron hands after arrest but the question is who will arrest them. It is pertinent to mention here that Baloch Liberation Tiger’s spokesman has accepted the responsibility for the blast and termed the incident a reaction of the killings of Baloch citizens in Balochistan.
About five people including children had lost thier lives in the Saturday’s terrorism, leaving the city in panic.
