LAHORE - A solo show of paintings and sketches by Pakistans international fame artist Saeed Akhtar on Sunday opened at Ejaz Galleries, MM Alam Road. A large number of art-lovers, artists and professionals gathered in the galleries to see the work of the legendry artist, comprising more than 160 pieces of art. Admiring his nice work, the visitors praised Akhtar as one of the greatest artists of the age. Saeed Akhtar is one of those legendry artists of the soil whose names are not less than icon in the art industry, said one visitor. His paintings are like a mirror where you can easily see his years of tireless efforts. His works convey a philosophical deepness and charisma, which can be achieved in art industry after burning midnight oil, said another. Oil on canvas is Saeeds favorite medium. His choice of colors, are always vibrant and bold just like his bold brush strokes. Although, he is known for Portrait Art but he also loves to paint his imaginary thoughts. A lucid perception of the relationship of light with the structure and texture of the human form enables Akhtar to express with immediacy and freedom the pictorial interpretation of the human spirit. The exhibition will remain open till May 17. Meanwhile, selected art work of 13 Pakistani artists is being displayed in Singapore from Tuesday (tomorrow) for charitable purposes. According to an announcement by the organisers, sale from the paintings and calligraphic work on display in the group exhibition will be donated to earthquake victims of Japan and flood victims of Pakistan for their assistance and rehabilitation. Artistic Fusions from Pakistan, the major art exhibition of the Pakistani artists is to be held at the Art House, Old Parliament Lane, Level 2 Annex Building and is scheduled to continue for six days till May 15. Besides prominent Pakistani artists of international fame, Jimmy Engineer, other 12 artists whose selected art work is being displayed in the exhibition include Iqbal Hussain, AQ Arif, AS Rind, Abrar Ahmad, Amjad Butt, Mansur Rahi, Hajra Mansur, Maham Gul, Mashkoor Raza, Mussarat Arif, Salman Farooqi and Tariq Javaid. On the whole, more than 70 paintings including famous Pakistan Movement series of paintings and recent architectural compositions of Pakistan of Jimmy Engineer will be on displayed in the exhibition. In addition to the art work of the 13 Pakistani artists, according to the organisers, paintings and calligraphic work of four women artists based in Singapore will also form part of the major group show. The exhibition of the multi-national artists is being organised by the Pakistan High Commission in Singapore, the Art House, Sony Entertainment and the Friends Entertainment in collaboration with the Revivers Galleria, Lahore.
