LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed that best companies of the world should be selected transparently for speedy implementation of the Saaf Pani project.
He was presiding over a meeting yesterday in which progress on various matters regarding the project were reviewed. Chief Executive Officer Saaf Pani Company gave a detailed briefing regarding the project.
The chief minister further directed that advertisements should be published in foreign media for pre-qualification of companies. He said that road show should be held abroad in connection with Saaf Pani Project and best international companies be invited in road show or seminar.
The chief minister while addressing the meeting through video link said that Saaf Pani Project will be completed under a phased programme and no effort will be spared in speedy completion of this important project.
He noted that Saaf Pani Project was vital in saving the citizens against diseases and constituting of a healthy society and all out funds will be provided for this project. He said that every citizen had right over clean drinking water and Punjab government will give this right to the citizens.
Shehbaz Sharif also directed to ensure provision of clean drinking water on priority basis in the districts of South Punjab in the first phase and added that such areas should be selected where there is dire need of clean drinking water. He said that a road show should be conducted in Dubai and experts from important countries including China, America and Europe should be invited and companies having expertise in provision of clean drinking water should be invited.
The chief minister ordered to constitute a committee headed by Provincial Housing Minister and Chief Secretary which will take decisions regarding important matters of Saaf Pani Project. He said that there should be an effective mechanism of monitoring for the project.
He said that Saaf Pani Project was a public welfare project and its hundred percent quality should be ensured. He said that this project should be forwarded on priority basis in the areas facing serious problem of potable water. He said that projects like Saaf Pani Project are high example of spending resources on masses.
He said that Punjab government will make round the clock efforts for completion of Saaf Panji Project. Provincial Minister for Housing Tanvir Aslam Malik, Chairman Punjab Saaf Pani Company, MPA Kashif Padhyar, MPA Mian Shehbaz, Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning & Development, Secretary Housing and concerned officials participated the meeting through video link.
