Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif spent most of the time on Eidul Azha with the flood affectees of Punjab.
President Mamnoon Hussain celebrated Eid in Karachi while former president Asif Ali Zardari spent the days for the first time in Lahore instead of Dubai or Karachi.
Nawaz Sharif offered Eid prayer at the Jaati Umra mosque while Shahbaz Sharif with the flood affectees at Kot Saleem Hafizabad. Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar offered Eid prayers at Badshahi mosque. Information Minister Senator Pervaiz Rashid, MNA Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, PML-N City President Pervez Malik and others legislators of the N League also offered Eid prayers at Jaati Umra with the premiere.
After spending some time at his Riawind residence, the prime minister flew for Narowal where he stayed with the flood affectees and distributed financial aid and gifts among them.
PPP Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari, after offering prayer at the Bilawal House mosque, exchanged Eid greetings with party leaders and workers, before spending his day in sorting out the party matters. Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq spent the day in Lahore.
Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif met the affectees of Kot Saleem, Hafizabad, and Rehman Colony, Mauza Suleman, Tehsil Bahawana, Chiniot. After offering prayers, the chief minister also mingled with the affected children.
Addressing the flood affectees, Shahbaz Sharif said that some people wanted to enter the corridors of power through backdoor, but their desire would never come true. He said that the sit-ins had been ruining the national economy. He also doubted the sincerity of their intentions, blaming it to be the reason for the postponement of Chinese president’s visit to Pakistan.
The chief minister also called upon all political leaders to work together for progress and prosperity of the nation, instead of striving for achieving their own political ends. He said, “Pakistani nation can stand on its own feet through hard work, trust and honesty.”
Moreover, Shahbaz announced establishment of a health unit and a school at Rehman Colony, Mauza Suleman. He also announced grant of Rs0.5 million to the widow of slain Yaqoob Shehzad Amr, Chairman Press Club, and directed the DPO to arrest the murderers as soon as possible.
