Karachi lawyers remembered

LAHORE - Remembering the slain lawyers in Karachi and other parts of the country on April 9, 2008, the Lahore High Court Bar Association observed ‘black day’ on Wednesday.
The lawyers also condemned the operation during the regime of former military ruler Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf, demanding of the government to set an example by writing letters of commemoration to the martyred families.
The lawyers expressed these views during a meeting of general house held at Lahore High Court Bar Association. The general house asked the LHC to announce Rs10 million each for families of the lawyers burnt alive in Karachi and Sahiwal.  Owing to whole day strike in the courts, thousands of cases were not heard and adjourned for some other dates.
litigants faced problems, especially those who had come from other cities of the province.
On other hand, the Lahore Bar Association boycotted courts to protest against ‘unfriendly behavior’ of judicial officers at lower courts. The representatives of LBA announced to aggravate the protest if the judges did not mend their ways.
