Cops awarded for outstanding performance

LAHORE - DIG (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf yesterday awarded cash prizes and commendatory certificates among 20 policemen for their outstanding work.
Speaking to officers during a simple ceremony arranged at his office, the DIG said the cops, fighting criminals, gangsters, and militants, are the heroes of the police department.
Haider Ashraf also paid rich tributes to the policemen and security personnel who lost their lives while fighting criminals and terrorists.
On this occasion, the senior police officer distributed cash prizes and CC-II Certificates among at least 20 policemen for their excellent work during field jobs.
A police spokesperson said three teams were given certificates and cash prizes. A Police Response Unit was honoured for rescuing a nine-year-old girl from the clutches of a rickshaw driver three days ago in Sabzazar. The man was holding a young girl alongside a park when a patrol spotted the suspect, and his suspicious movement, according to the police.
The victim told the police that the rickshaw driver took her to a deserted place instead of dropping the schoolgirl at home. She said she made hue and cry as she witnessed a police mobile unit nearby. The man was arrested by the police while the girl was sent home safely, the spokesman said. Two teams of Nawan Kot and Gulshan-e-Ravi police stations were given prizes and certificates for arresting two robbers and killing another two during crossfire last week.
RETIRED COPS: DIG Haider Ashraf yesterday announced the Lahore police would arrange a get together with the retired policemen to acknowledge their services.
