lahore - Responding to TTP’s demand regarding enforcement of Sharia in the country, former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Sunday said it was already part and parcel of Pakistan’s legal system.
“Country’s Constitution has been drafted keeping in view the Sharia”, he told the media, adding, that no law repugnant to the teaching of Islam could be made as per the Constitution.  The former Premier was talking to reporters at his Lahore residence alongwith Chief Minister of Gilgit Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah. Gilani, however, declined to offer any further comment on Government-TTP talks, stating he did not want to sabotage the peace process by giving any opinion on it.
The PPP, he said, had extended its unconditional support to the govt to overcome the menace of terrorism.
 “If the government sought our advice on the issue, the PPP leadership would respond positively”, he said while replying to a question.
Gilani further said that if the Taliban sought release of their prisoners, the govt should take up the issue of his son’s release currently in their custody.
Answering a question about NAB cases against him, Gilani said he was already facing them in court.
