LAHORE - Adviser to Punjab Chief Minister on Health Kh Salman Rafiq said that development of health sector and welfare of doctors was top priority of the government.
Talking to a delegation of Pakistan Medical Association Punjab chapter on Monday, he said that the CM had given approval for filling vacant posts of specialist doctors in tehsil and district headquarters hospitals. He said that for the first time over 1,200 nurses had been promoted to BPS-17 at a time.
Secretary Health Punjab Jawad Rafiq Malik, Parliamentary Secretary Health Kh Imran Nazir, Director General Health Dr Zahid Pervaiz, Additional Secretary Establishment Rana Arshad were also present.
The delegation comprises Dr Tanveer, Dr Izhar Ch, Dr Shahid Malik, Dr Kamran, Dr Wajid, Dr Tariq Rehmani and Dr Talha. Mattes of service structure, seniority, problems of general cadre doctors were discussed in details.
Kh Salman Rafiq assured the delegation that immediate steps would be taken for completing the faculty of new medical colleges. He said that the matters of promotion of general cadre doctors would be revisited and disposed of at the earliest. He said that the issue of renewal of registration of doctors from PMDC would be taken up at department level.
The delegation lauded the CM for filling vacant posts of specialist doctors at district and tehsil headquarters hospitals, steps for provision of 100 per cent medicines, medical equipments and improvement of infrastructure.
