Discipline on highways to be ensured: DIG NH&MP

LAHORE – Every effort would be made and all resources used to bring discipline on national highways and provide quality assistance to the road users, said newly-appointed National Highway and Motorway Police (NH&MP) N-5 Zonal Commander DIG Rai Altaf Hussain while taking charge of the office on Monday.
On Hussain’s arrival at the Lahore Zonal Office, guard of honour was presented to him by a smartly-dressed contingent of the Motorway Police. During his first meeting with the staff of the Central Zone, Hussain said he felt proud to be a part of a force known for its honesty, dedication to duty, soft policing, help to the distressed road users and friendly dealing with the violators.
“No compromise will be made in providing timely and effective help to the distressed road users, especially during the hot season and the holy month of Ramazan,” he added.
The DIG also laid stress on the need to install speed checking cameras at the spots that are prone to accidents because of over-speeding by the drivers. He further instructed the staff to especially brief and educate motorcyclists who were the most careless of the road users.
Central-I SSP Mirza Faran Baig, Staff Officer Muhammad Anwar and other officials of the NH&MP were also present in the meeting. Earlier, Hussain gave cash rewards and commendation certificates to SPOs Akif Nishat Bajwa and Noor Ahmad, who had apprehended two dacoits involved in a bank dacoity after an exchange of fire and had also recovered the looted money.
Hussain said on the occasion that he expected similar type of professional approach from all the force to maintain the lofty status the department had achieved after hard work of many years.
