Body formed to review teachers transfers

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has rejected the transfer policy of school teachers framed by Secretary Schools and formed a committee headed by his senior advisor Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa to review the same, sources in Education Department confided to The Nation on Thursday. The committee will meet on Friday (today) to review the issue and would report to the Chief Minister within a couple of days. Sources claimed that Secretary Schools had framed the said transfer policy for schools teachers and had sent to the CM for approval but certain quarters from the education department raised objections over the policy, seeking amendments in it. The CM formed a committee comprising Punjab Minister Education Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Secretary Schools Muhammad Aslam Kmaboh while Zulfiqar Khosa will be head of the committee. It is worth mentioning here that ban imposed on transfers and posting in higher education side was lifted on Thursday. But ban imposed on school side could not be lifted only for the reason that summary in connection with transfer policy was rejected by CM. As per transfer policy framed by secretary schools, a substitute teacher was mandatory to transfer a teacher. Only the transfer could be done against a vacant post. Mutual transfers were allowed and head of any school could only be transferred in case of his available substitute teacher.
