No care for nurses

LAHORE - The Young Nurses Association has announced strike across the province on Monday (today) after their negotiations with government failed to bear fruit.
A delegation of YNA called on Health Secretary Babar Hayat Tarar at Civil Secretariat and apprised him of their demands. Health Director General Dr Zahid Pervaiz and Punjab Nursing DG were also present.
After unsuccessful talks, the YNA announced going on strike at all departments except emergency. The YNA will stage a sit in outside LPC on Monday that will continue till acceptance of all demands.
The Health secretary said that requisition for recruitment of 1,500 nurses would be forwarded to the Punjab Public Service Commission during the next week. He said the Departmental Promotion Committee would be convened on March 24 for promotion of nurses to the next grade. He said that the issue of BPS-17 seats would be resolved soon.
However, the paramedics have been making a litany of complaints against the government, saying that the government has been depriving them of their rights. They alleged that the government has not been paying heeds to their just demands. They made an appeal to the chief minister to look into the matter.
