LAHORE - Urdu is a strong medium of communication at public level and for national contacts. It is need of the hour that more translations of modern scientific and literary subjects should be made in Urdu so that the student community could benefit from it.
These views were expressed by Punjab Education Foundation Chairman Raja Anwar while addressing a seminar on “Importance of National Language in the Development of the Country” held under the aegis of Hamdard Majlis-e-Shoora at Hamdard Center.
Raja Anwar said that Urdu was the important medium of communication of sub-continent and according to UNESCO it was the fourth largest language of the world. He said that translations of other languages in Urdu were utmost essential so that its educational scope could be expanded. He said that through promotion of Urdu language, mutual contacts between federating units and the process of expression can be made more effective.
He said that promotion of internet communication at international level would also help in creating awareness among the young generation residing abroad about Urdu language and literature.
Director General of Urdu Science Board Iqbal Nadeem, prominent scholar Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Azhar, Absaar Abdul Ali, Prof. Khalid Mahmood, Prof. Rafique Ahmed and other participants addressed the function and expressed their views about the importance of Urdu language.
