LAHORE - PML-Q (Like-minded) on Wednesday announced provincial presidents of the party for an interim period till holding of elections for these offices. MNA Israr Tareen will hold the office of President Balochistan, MPA Wajeeh-uz-Zaman that of NWFP, Arbab Ghulam Raheem of Sindh while head of unification block, MPA Atta Muhammad Manika, will be the Punjab president of the party. Other office bearers will be nominated after consultation with the presidents of the respective provinces. PML-Q (Like-minded) Chairman Hamid Nasir Chatta made this announcement after presiding over a meeting at the residence of former foreign minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri. Party President Saleem Saifullah, General Secretary Humayun Akhtar Khan, Gohar Ayub Khan, Atta Muhammad Manika, Tahir Ali Javed, Kashmala Tariq and other top party leaders also participated in the meeting. The newest faction of Muslim League also made necessary amendments in its constitution to facilitate constituting a steering committee under the chairmanship of Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri. Other members of the committee are: Gohar Ayub Khan, Nisar Muhammad Khan and Haleem Siddiqui, while Chaudhry Abbas will act as secretary of the body. Speaking on the occasion, Saleem Saifullah condemned the drone attacks inside Pakistan, saying it was an insult to the unanimous resolution of the Parliament and demanded the government to take appropriate measures for stopping such strikes and restoring Parliaments respect. To a question about merger of different faction of Muslim League, he said their group had come forward with a positive thinking. He also vowed to organise the party and run its affair in a democratic manner. Khurshid Kasuri urged both the major political parties, the PPP and the PML-N, to follow procedure defined in the Charter of Democracy for recruitment of judges. Responding to a question about ex-president Pervaiz Musharrafs trial, he said one should understand the difference between the justice and personal grudge, adding justice demanded that not only the dictators but also the facilitators should be tried under Articles 6, 6(1), 6(2) and 25 of the Constitution. He stressed the need of constituting a truth and reconciliation commission to put an end to the issue. Clarifying his position regarding meeting with Musharraf in London, Gohar Ayub said he had not visited England for the last two years. Atta Muhammad Manika said the unification block extended support to the PML-N to save the Punjab government from the conspiracies hatched by the PPP. He vowed to do the same if the PPP tried to topple the provincial government in future.
