DCO lauds performance of anti-dengue staff

LAHORE – District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noorul Amin Mengal said on Sunday that the Anti-Dengue Larva Day was observed in all the nine towns of the City with zeal and enthusiasm.
Mengal said officials of all towns, in spite of the rain, went from door to door in search of dengue larva and ensured its elimination. Moreover, all officials, in their concerned areas, pumped out stagnant rainwater.
The Lahore DCO said the staff of the City District Government Lahore (CDGL) and all towns was on alert during the dengue eradication campaign. He lauded the performance of all officers and officials who were working in the campaign. He said the City District Government Lahore was playing its due role in making Lahore a Dengue-free City.
Also, DCO Noorul Amin Mengal said on Sunday that 350 volunteers of the Civil Defence Department worked wholeheartedly and performed their duties efficiently. Mengal said he found them active and committed to their duty in all parts of the City.
The DCO said women volunteers also played their role like their male counterparts. He lauded the performance of the volunteers and ordered that they be paid a monthly salary of Rs9,000 each.
Meanwhile, the Operations and Communication Wing of the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) also observed the Anti-Dengue Larva Day on the directions of the Punjab government.
Lahore Waste Management Company  staff and Albayrak teams ensured waste-free route of the walk from Liberty Roundabout to Main Market, Gulberg. The LWMC had deployed 50 sanitary workers on the route to keep the venue clean.
The workforce was also deputed along with roadside vendors so that all the waste generated by the participants of the walk could be cleared in time. Ozpak’s Communication Team also participated in the awareness activity, while its social mobilisers and communication team participated in the walk with company floats specially designed for the Anti-Dengue Larva Day.
The mobilisers also distributed awareness stickers among the participants of the walk. An animation was also shown to young participants of the walk, so that they could be sensitised on the issue of cleanliness.
Later, LWMC floats visited different areas of the City while transmitting electronic messages to keep the City clean and waste-free. The staff on floats distributed awareness material among the residents to make them aware and conscious of their role in cleanliness.
