EC facilitating PML-N: PAT

LAHORE  - PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has alleged that Punjab Election Commission members are playing the role of facilitators for the ruling party PML-N in the province.
In a statement yesterday, he claimed the commission extended the date of submission of papers from Sept 11 to 30 only for the convenience of the ruling party candidates. “Changing of dates is creating ambiguity and problems for political parties once the election commission issued schedule.”
He said the change of dates was based on malafide intentions of the commission and that the Pakistan Awami Tehreek had written a protest note to the ECP in this connection.
Gandapur said that despite clear instructions from the Supreme Court the ruling party PML-N was trying to find a way out of the local bodies elections by adopting delaying tactics. He alleged the provincial members of the ECP were helping and facilitating the ruling party.
He questioned how the ECP could change the dates without taking any political party into confidence. He said the ECP had not taken into consideration the Hajj and Muharram days and changed dates without any intimation.
