LAHORE - Dacoits on Friday went on the rampage, robbed four houses, looted families and passersby at gunpoint and made off with cash and valuables worth Rs10 million from different parts of the provincial metropolis, police sources claimed.
Five dacoits forced their entry into the house of Dr Sadia in (C-Block) Model Town. The gunmen held hostage the family members and escaped after snatching cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth Rs 5.7 million. The dacoits had escaped when the police reached the spot. The police are investigating the house robbery with no arrest made yet.
Similarly, four gunmen burst into the house Abdul Hafeez in the same Model Town police precincts and held up the family members at gunpoint. The bandits fled after snatching cash and gold ornaments worth Rs2.5 million. The back-to-back armed robberies have triggered terror in the posh locality. Police are investigating.
In another incident, five dacoits equipped with automatic weapons stormed the house of Muhammad Akram in Rangeel Pura in the limits of Sundar police.
They held up the women and children at gunpoint and escaped after collecting cash and gold ornaments worth one million rupees.
Also, four armed bandits barged into the house of Suleman in (Kashmir block) Iqbal Town in the wee hours of Friday. The robbers held up the family at gunpoint and fled after snatching cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 500,000.
Meanwhile, two motorcyclists held up Saleem and his wife at gunpoint in Ravi Road police precincts. The couple was deprived of cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 168,000 at gunpoint. No case has been registered with the police so far.
Armed bandits riding on motorcycles also looted families and passersby in Shahdara Town, Nawab Town, Green Town, Old Anarkali, Gujjarpura, Islampura, Iqbal Town, Defense-B, Garden Town, Satu Katla, Baghbanpura, Muslim Town, Defense-C, Sabzazar, and Raiwind City and made off with cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 1.5 million. Robbers also snatched away a motorcycle and Rs 8000 from Kashif who was stopped at gunpoint in Baghbanpura.
Four dacoits riding on two motorcycles held up Sharif and Furrakh at gunpoint in the limits of Defense-A police and snatched away Rs 120,000 and Rs 40,000 respectively from them.
