LAHORE - Religious scholars addressing at Ulema Convention have said that mosques and seminaries had no link with terrorism.
Pakistan Ulma Council organised the convention at Jamia Masjid Makki Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park yesterday.
PUC Chairman Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi presided over while speakers included Maulana Zahid Qasmi, Maulana Ayub Safdar, Maulana Khadim Hussein, Maulana Mushtaq Lahori, Qari Abdul Hakeem, Maulana Abdul Qayum, Maulana Aslam Qadri, Maulana Islamuddin and Maulana Abdullah Rasheedi.
They said terrorists were luring youth into their business and Muslim scholars and religious leadership should come forward to guide youth against nefarious propaganda of extremists. They stressed the need for guiding the youth to foil such nefarious designs.
They also demanded the government release detained religious leaders who were taken into custody on suspicion grounds.
They said that seminaries and mosques were playing pivotal role for peaceful Pakistan. Tahir Ashrafi said that some elements wanted to create chaos in Pakistan. Killing women, children and innocent people was not allowed in Islam.
At the convention, a code of conduct on behalf of Wafaqul Masajid Pakistan was also presented for seminaries and mosques of Pakistan.
