CJ dismisses judge; sends notices to two

LAHORE Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, taking for the first time on Saturday a meeting of the Administrative Committee after becoming Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, dismissed a Senior Civil Judge from service besides issuing show cause notices to two Civil Judges. According to a press release issued by the LHC Registrar, the CJ-led committee transacted its administrative business regarding disciplinary inquiry against 14 judges of the subordinate judiciary throughout the Punjab. Senior LHC judges also attended the meeting. The committee meeting made important decisions on the complaints against the judges. According to committees decisions, Senior Civil judge Muhammad Hamid Pervez Khan has been dismissed from service and final show cause notice has been issued to Civil Judge Muhammad Aslam Dhariwal and Jawwad Alam Qureshi. The Committee has also initiated disciplinary proceedings against seven judges, including District & Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry, Additional District & Session Judge Shahid Mahmood, AD&SJ Sadaqatullah Khan, AD&SJ Aqil Hassan Chohan, AD&SJ Azizullah Kallu, Civil Judge Haris Ali Mian and Civil Judge Muhammad Dawood Sahi. The committee also warned AD&SJ Muhammad Ittefaq Abbasi, Civil Judge Shahbaz Iqbal Tarar, Civil Judge Imran Khurshed and AD&SJ Ch Muhammad Azam to remain careful in future and withheld complaints against them. Meanwhile, the Chief Justice issued transfer and posting orders of three judges. According to a notification, Additional District and Session Judge Arshad Mahmood has been transferred and posted from Gojra to Sarai Alamgir while AD&SJ Ch Muhammad Hussain has been transferred and posted from Sarai Alamgir to Gojra. Civil Judge Khurram Saleem Mirza has been transferred from Jhang to Sheikhupura against an existing vacancy.
