LAHORE - The three-day celebrations of 971st Urs of Syed Ali Hajveri, popularly known as Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh, will start today (Thursday). Devotees from across the country will participate in the celebrations with enthusiasm and fervor.
The Urs ceremonies will start at 10am with inauguration of milk sabeel and laying wreath. Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar and Provincial Minister for Auqaf Mian Atta Manika will inaugurate the ceremonies.
Tight security arrangements have been made for the occasion. Hundreds policemen would perform security duties and devotees would be checked through walk through gates and metal detectors at all entry points of the shrine.
The great saint of the sub-continent was born at Hajver, a town of Ghazni in Afghanistan, in 1000 AD (400 H) and died in Lahore in 1063 or 1071 AD.
