Court sends four notices

LAHORE The District Consumer Court on Thursday, taking action in four different complaints seeking damages against defective and faulty services, issued notices to a watch shop owner, a furniture showroom, a wedding-dress manufacturer and an insurance companys managing director. In the first complaint, Muhammad Jaffar, a student, contended that he had bought a watch from GST Swiss watch shop against price at Rs6,800 on April 14 last. He said the watch became out of order in August 2010 within the warranty period. Jaffar said the respondent tried to remove the fault of watch but he couldnt do so. The complainant said in his complaint submitted to the court that he had also asked the respondent many times to replace the watch with a new one or reimburse the price money of the watch but to no avail. He prayed the court to order the respondent to reimburse him Rs6,800 besides paying damages of Rs55,000 as mental torture and legal expenses. The court issued a notice to respondent dated March 4, 2011. After hearing other three such complaints, the court also issued notices to a furniture shop owner, a wedding-dress manufacturer and insurance companys managing director for providing dissatisfactory as well as faulty services.
