Uranium enrichment to go on: Qumi

LAHORE Iranian Counsel General Ali Nikan Qumi has said that access to modern technology was legitimate right of every nation and no one could stop Iran from carrying out Uranium enrichment. Addressing a ceremony held at a local hotel on Thursday to mark 32nd anniversary of Islamic revolution in Iran, he said that even sanctions and stronger opposition could not deprive Iran of her right to acquire nuclear technology. Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Punjab Minister for Education Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman and Minister for Agriculture Ahmed Ali Aulakh were also present. At the start of the ceremony, national anthems of both the brotherly states were played while a cake was also cut to mark the anniversary of Iranian revolution. Referring to the challenges faced by Muslim ummah, Ali Nikan Qumi said that the international media was portraying Muslims as terrorists and extremists which was a great injustice to the followers of religion of peace. He said that the world community was not giving proper attention to the plight of Palestinians which reflect their double standards. He said that there were many conspiracies in the past to dislodge Islamic revolution but Iranians foiled all attempts through commitment and dedication. He said that people from both Iran and Pakistan have profound relations which would be strengthen further in future. He said that Iran was extending cooperation in gas pipeline and projects in power and transport sectors. He expressed hope that more cooperation would bring people from Iran and Pakistan further close. Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Muhammad Iqbal invited Iranians to get benefit from the potential of Pakistan in agriculture and livestock sectors. He said that both the countries were collaborating in different sectors and more cooperation would bring people further close. While paying tributes to Iranians, he said that it has proven that unity, dedication and hard work were keys to success. He said that Pakistani nation has great potential which it has shown in fight against dictatorship and terrorism. He expressed hope that the nation would make Pakistan a country as envisaged by Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal.
