LAHORE The Habib Bank Golf event at the par-72 Royal Palm Golf Course turned out to be a battle of wits among 70 quality competitors, amidst winter chill and at a challenge-loaded golf course. After 18 holes of fierce competition, Asad Amin emerged as the gross section winner and Qaiser Nazir was the top performer in net section. Playing conditions demanded the best of golfing skills and ability and of course their application, be it hitting off the tee, or on approach shots or using the putter to advantage, on the greens. Asad Amin managed to keep himself ahead of the others, even though loss of strokes was a continuous phenomenon, yet succeeded in producing the best gross round of 83. Shoaib Bokhari attained the runners up slot, two strokes behind Asad. The net event winner, Qaiser Nazir has a reputation for playing steady competitive golf and even though his round lacked the usual brilliance, his round of net 76 was better than his fellow competitors.
