PM, CM visit to China termed milestone

LAHORE - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s visit to China would prove a milestone for development of the country in energy and social sectors.
Addressing a meeting of the party workers Wednesday, PML-N leader Khwaja Ahmad Hasaan said that restoration of Nandipur Power Project is an excellent achievement of CM Shahbaz Sharif. “An initial agreement has been made with a Chinese government company for construction of metro bus system and underground bus service in Lahore, Multan Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Gujranwala,” he added.
He said the visit would not only further strengthen Pak-China relations but also open new avenues of development. He said that immediate implementation on the agreements, between the Punjab government and Chinese companies, is a good omen.
Khwaja said after coming into power, the CM showed extra-ordinary interest in Nandipur Power Project to rid the people of power loadshedding. The CM held a long meeting with the officials of a renowned Chinese company and ultimately persuaded them due to which Chinese engineers have restarted work on the project.
He said the CM is determined to rid the people of the province of loadshedding.
“That is why the CM not only met the heads of private organisations, investors and companies, convincing them to cooperate with the Pakistani government for eliminating electricity crisis, but he also held meetings with the Chinese leaders and officials which has started yielding positive results,” he said adding that PM Nawaz Sharif and CM Shahbaz Sharif have assured the Chinese investors for providing all facilities and protection to the investment in trade and other sectors.
Khwaja said that various agreements have been signed between the Punjab government and China in infrastructure and energy sectors. He said the cooperation of Chinese officials and experts for running modern transport system in big cities of Punjab is commendable.
