'Fatima Jinnah a role model for women'

LAHORE - The special sitting organized by Nazria Pakistan Trust on the occasion of International Women Day at Aiwane Karkunane Tehrike Pakistan here Wednesday unanimously carried resolution for placing name of Madre Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah at the top of all women who struggled for the creation of Pakistan and also for her status as role-model for others in this regard. The resolution also shows its disappointment over the closure of Madre Millat Award over the last two years after it was initiated in 2002 at the government of Pakistan level. The immediate restoration of the award has been demanded. Through another resolution on Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah raised a demand to the political parties for giving maximum participation to the women in accordance with the oft-made call for bringing them in the mainstream of national life. A resolution was also passed for ending discrimination against the women oppression and injustice, abolishing hazardous and obsolete traditions involving them. Another resolution was carried to demand a complete implementation of the United Nations covenants carried in three UN conventions for the current year under the slogans 'equal rights and equal opportunities for everyone with respect to the women. Yet another resolution demanded of the government special grant for the women of Swat, Malakand, Wana and other tribal areas who are victim of social injustices and undue restraints and are passing through a tough time also for the reason their educational institutions have been destroyed and today they stand without any education, health, employment and other facilities.
